When Prominent Builders, a Boston general contractor, wanted AI to help run its projects, its work was scattered across a legacy construction management system, file shares, and email. Nymbl built BOS, the Builder Operating System, a custom platform Prominent owns outright, and took it from kickoff to launch in 3 months.

How Prominent Builders Replaced Its Legacy System with a Platform It Owns

Overview
‍

Prominent Builders runs commercial construction projects across Boston with a network of subcontractors, architects, and owners. Its project data lived in a legacy construction management system, shared drives, and inboxes, which made it hard to see the full picture of any job and impossible to put AI to work on it.The legacy system's per-user pricing also made it expensive to bring outside partners into one place. Prominent wanted a single platform for the office, the field, and every outside party, and it wanted to own it. Nymbl built and launched BOS in 3 months with a core team of 2.5 engineers.

Implementation Timeline

‍

3-month build, from kickoff to launch. Modules delivered in iterative cycles, including:

- Discovery and requirements

- Design and development

- Testing and refinement

- Deployment

- Post-launch support and expansion

‍

Continuous releases kept the client using and shaping the product throughout the build.

A custom, fully owned construction operating system (BOS) covering financials, project coordination, field operations, subcontractor management, and external collaboration

Financial management for pay applications, schedules of values, retainage, and lien waivers

Project coordination for RFIs, submittals, and meeting minutes, plus drawings, revisions, and transmittals in the field

A subcontractor and partner portal covering onboarding through payment, compliance documents, and architect and consultant access

A Claude connector so the team can check status or create records from chat

- Front-end: React

- Claude connector for chat-based access to live project data

- SSO, notifications, and usage analytics built into the platform

Fragmented project data spread across a legacy system, file shares, and email, with no single source of truth.

Per-user licensing costs that made it costly to bring subcontractors, architects, and owners into the system.

No path to AI, because the data AI needed was locked in a platform Prominent didn't control.

‍

Built with Nymbl Studio, pairing a lean engineering team with Claude to deliver an enterprise-scale platform in months, not years.

‍

Designed one application for the office, the field, and every outside party, removing the per-seat barrier to collaboration.

Connected BOS to Claude so project teams can ask questions and create records in plain language.

Shipped continuously, with 78 production releases backed by 6,312 automated tests.
